Dakine Hot Laps Tactical Fanny Pack Review…

What if you are going out for a day hike, bike ride or trail run and don’t want to carry a pack on your back or shoulders? The Dakine Hot Laps makes a great tactical fanny pack that provides lots of carrying space.

Dakine Hot Laps
Yes, this carries 5+ liters of gear!

Spacious Hydration Pack – Without the Shoulder Straps!

The Dakine hip pack comes in super handy on those hot days, where you don’t want an extra load on your back like you would with other tactical hydration packs. Plus, the waist belt features an AirFlow back panel, which keeps you cooler because it breathes.

In addition to holding a 2 liter (2L) bladder, this camouflage waist pack features an extra 3 liters of cargo space. Not to mention the outer molle and wide strap with cinches for attaching even more gear to the outside of the bag.

Note: you can’t see the wide outer strap that well in the photo above, so check out the Dakine Hot Laps review video below to see how it works:

This Tactical Fanny Pack Keeps All Your Gear Organized:

You can surprisingly keep all of your gadgets, tools and snacks easily organized with all the compartments that this hydration pack provides. For example, the bag includes a couple of small interior pockets as well as a zippered mesh pocket that makes stuff easy to find.

Not only do the pockets organize your contents, they keep smaller items from jostling around as much. For example, this prevents phone screens from getting scratched, lids coming off chapstick and protein bars getting squished.

Drinking Hose Automatically Clicks Back into Waist Bag…

This hip pack possesses a really cool feature for its drinking hose. The belt has a “magnetic buckle” which attracts the end of the hose, therefore making it easy to put the hose back in place while you are moving.

With my last hydration backpack, I had a problem. I had to re-attach the hose to the shoulder strap when I finished drinking. Often, it ended up swinging around and getting in the way. This magnetic buckle solves this inconvenient and annoying problem.

Use the Dakine Waist Pack for More than Just Hiking and Biking:

However, you can use your Dakine Hot Laps for more than just staying hydrated. In fact, if you choose to forgo the bladder while traveling, you can get an extra 2L of cargo space.

For instance, think binoculars for birdwatching, a camera while sight seeing or extra layers of clothing while outdoors. Plus, you can minimize travel luggage by using this waist pack to carry important items on your body. (Not to mention, they are easily accessible too!)

How to Wash: Hand wash your Dakine Hot Laps in cold water with mild soap and a soft-bristled brush. If you choose to wash it in a front-loading washing machine, stick it in a pillow case first so that the waist strap does not get tangled.

Note: By the way, if you want to have both an over-the-shoulder tactical backpack and a fanny pack, Monkey Paks makes a 2-in-1 rucksack with hydration backpack and removable waist pack. That said, the bladder only fits in thee backpack portion.
