In addition to having plenty of small and large zippered compartments, this pack includes tie down straps and even a molle system INSIDE the bag. Camelbak makes it easy to keep all of your stuff well organized as well as in place. In fact, some people use this as a laptop carrier.
All that said, this bag is big. Besides the 5 outer pockets, the pack has 2 large main compartments. 2. Therefore, if you don’t plan on carrying a lot of gear, you may prefer a smaller, more form-fitting backpack.
About the Mil Spec Antidote® 3L Lumbar Reservoir
Unlike most other hydration packs, the Rubicon places the bladder down near your lower back for more comfort and stability. After trying this different design, many people actually prefer the layout, saying that it feels more supportive on the back.
The bladder is made from BPA-free plastic and has a large leak-proof mouth. It only requires a 1/4 turn to secure shut. This makes it easy to fill quickly and add large ice cubes.
The insulated flow tube also helps to keep your water cold. Plus, the big bite valve makes water access quick and convenient.
Back Support Design
With a larger carrier, back support becomes even more important. Camelbak obviously had this at top of mind when developing the design, since they cleverly positioned the bladder like a lumbar support.
